Wanda Sykes is Gay.

Ok. I have to say this in response to the “Gay” PSA with Wanda Sykes.  You know the one where she gets all offended cuz a kid said something was gay, when he meant stupid?

And before I say this, let me preface with, I am not homophobic, or discriminatory. I accept everyone for the person they are, and do not judge you by who you love or how you love.

NOW — Gay to its furthest definition is HAPPY.  Back in the day, Gay was an accepted term to express how happy you are. (Remember the Flintstones Theme song? “We’ll have a GAAAAAYYYYY OOOOOLLLLDDDD TIIIIIIIMEEEEEE!   WILMAAAAAA!!!!”)

Over the years, Gay did, at one point, mean Homosexual.  HOWEVER, we are living in a TRANSITIVE time. The meaning of the word is once again changing, to mean Stupid, Uncool, ect.  It was already heading that way, when Eminem got thrown into the fire of  Media Hate for using the term gay in its current meaning.

Unfortunately what this means, is that while I am sorry you are offended by it, there is not wrong with what was said, it was your interpretation that was incorrect.

An Afternoon with Wendi

With Wendi and I both working, and her photography career starting to really take off, well, we don’t have too much “Get Away” time.  So, it was great that we were able to take a couple of hours out of an afternoon, and go shooting.

So she took us to Topsmead Park, and there was this great old house, and some really great flowers.    I really love taking nature pics.   So, here are a few.   Enjoy!

The Bus Sign Creator

Todays post features work not created by me.  I loved it so much, I had to share it with all of you.

In the UK, Atheists have been advertising on city buses.  For example, one of the signs says “There probably is no God, so stop worrying and enjoy your life”.

A clever person somewhere in this mystical wonderland called the Internet put together a page that lets you make your own signs.   A coworker of mine decided to make one, and it just struck a chord with me.

Mugshots!

There’s a website that I enjoy looking at called The Smoking Gun.   Its mostly stories about people, Celebrities and Normies, who’ve run afoul of the law. They have a weekly “Mugshot Roundup” where they post the most interesting mugshots from jail bookings.  I like to photoshop these people, because if they’re already on TSG, then they must have done something really stupid, or had something very funny in how they looked, and subjects that are already interesting are awesome to work on.  I’ll post the before and after of a confused looking woman with a rather large hairdo.   Enjoy!

Erica and Luis

So, I had a very interesting experience last week.  Wendi asked me to shoot an engagement session with her, which makes this my first.   Most of the time I shoot inanimate objects or nature.   It was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.   And yes, I do have a new appreciation for Wendi’s photography.    So, here, in no particular order, are a selection of my favorite shots, as edited by Wendi.

The Unholy Union

This was a Fark.com photoshop themed contest.   The theme was, as this post is titled “Unholy Union”.    There were a lot of funny entries.  Mine was just a quick little thing, but I enjoyed doing it.

…are the ice pyramids!    No real story behind this.  I hadnt gotten to photoshop in a long, long time, and just wanted to create something.

In Space, no one can hear you Blog…

Space, it’s big.  It’s really, mind bogglingly big.  Seriously.  Like you thought your friends walk-in closet was big?   That’s nothing.  Space laughs at walk-in closets.

Space has been on my mind as of late.  So of course it’s wriggled it’s enormous way into my photoshopping.  I started to wonder what if Star Wars and Star Trek Clashed?  I mean sure, Kirk meets Skywalker, The Galactic Empire and The Klingon Empire just butt heads.  Who hasn’t thought of all that, right?

But what if, good attracts good, and evil attracts evil?  What if the bad guys from Star Wars and Star Trek formed an alliance, to destroy their respective thorns in the side?  And thats how this shop was born…

I also enjoy going through TSG’s mugshot roundup.  There’s lots of photoshopping inspiration in those shots.   And Space has even found its way into that…
